Principal investigator Julie Green, special research assistant professor of veterinary medical informatics in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology, has been awarded a yearlong grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) for veterinary informatics research to integrate SNOMED CT terminology connecting human and veterinary health data.

This work supports the data needs of the USDA Veterinary Services (VS). Standardized terminology allows USDA VS to aggregate and analyze data across VS programs. This work also supports the maintenance of the Veterinary Extension of SNOMED CT, the only veterinary extension in the world that integrates with SNOMED CT to provide terminology that connects human and veterinary health data.
