Hrubec, who earned a D.V.M. and a Ph.D. in veterinary medical sciences from VA-MD Vet Med, is a professor of anatomy and embryology at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Assistant editor of the Journal of Molecular Reproduction and Development, Hrubec served as an expert witness for the Scientific Guidance Panel Meeting for Biomonitoring California in March 2020. In 2019, she was recognized with the Patricia Rodier Mid-Career Award in Research and Mentoring from the Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention, an international research society dedicated to studying the causes and prevention of birth defects.
