Obituary

Jaine F. Weise, 61, of Lebanon, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at home. Born in Lebanon on June 2, 1957, Jaine was a daughter of the late Luke and Margaret (Massar) Weise.

Jaine was a veterinarian and spent much of the last two decades establishing and growing her veterinary practice and also started a free vaccine clinic for those in need. She also volunteered spaying and neutering feral cats in Delaware. Jaine had a big heart for anyone struggling and an even bigger heart for animals needing care. You could not have found a more caring veterinarian. She was a champion for underdogs and those affected by adversity, as she could relate. Jaine faced adversity and challenges in her life. A quote from Ashley Hodgeson “Strength and courage are not always measured in medals and victories, they are measured in the struggles they overcome.” She, indeed, overcame a lot in her life, facing the challenges head on and continued to help those struggling throughout her lifetime. She was a compassionate person. She often volunteered to help before she was asked. She regularly offered advice unabashedly, but with the best intentions, that, most of the time, proved to be insightful and valuable. She was, at times, boisterous, laughed easily, and loved an adventure -- traveling to several countries throughout her life. Jaine enjoyed camping, skiing, gardening, movies, and always had enthusiasm to do things and go places on a whim. Jaine had the energy of a 2-year-old and was always ready for the next adventure. Often, she wanted family to share in her excursions, many times talking us into joining her, if not always ready to take part in the experience. She lived life to the fullest and had a belly laugh that was infectious. She had an innate sense of style in fashion and home décor; she was such a special person in so many respects.

Jaine is survived by four siblings - Mary Lou Weise of Lebanon, Larry Weise of Lebanon, Rebecca Weise and her husband Steve Wade, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Bernadette Heckard and her husband Robert, of Lebanon; six nieces and nephews - Sarah D'Urso and her husband Nick, Cynthia Heckard, Blaise Novak, Joel Weise, Alyssa Thornwart, and Josh Checkett. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joel and John.
