Dr. Marshall was a valued member of our CVM community and the Class of 1995. His contributions to the college and the profession of veterinary medicine have made a lasting impact. He will continue to be remembered fondly and missed dearly.

Obituary

Dr. Dan W. Marshall, DVM of Virginia Beach, 39, born and raised in Newport News, completed his journey on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, with his life partner, family and close friends by his side after a brave year bout with cancer.

Dr. Marshall's career included numerous veterinarian clinics on the Peninsula before becoming the director of Tidewater Veterinarian Emergency Critical Care Center of Virginia Beach. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech and their Veterinarian School of Medicine. He also graduated from Warwick High School.

Dr. Marshall was preceded in death by his father, Albert W. Marshall, and maternal grandmother, Clara Brown, and paternal grandfather, Alvin Marshall. Survivors include his mother, Clarissa E. Marshall of Newport News, Va.; his life partner, Alton Lewis of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Steve Hardisty Sr. and his wife, Donna, of Newport News, Va., and Eddie Marshall Sr. and his wife, Jen, of Suffolk, Va.; two sisters, Sandra Scott of Newport News, Va., and Cindy Cook and her husband, Steve, of Yorktown, Va.; paternal grandmother, Beulah Marshall of Newport News, Va.; numerous loving nieces and nephews; and a godchild, Olivia Browning.

A celebration of Dr. Marshall's life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home by Dr. Michael Condrey. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dr. Dan Marshall Emergency Animal Indigent Fund, Care of TVECCC, 5425 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Sentara Norfolk General Oncology and I.C.U., and Virginia Oncology Associates. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of TVECCC for their love and support.
