Dr. Seifert was a valued member of our CVM community and the Class of 1996. Her contributions to the college and the profession of veterinary medicine have made a lasting impact. She will continue to be remembered fondly and missed dearly.

Obituary

Claire Leah St. Sauver Seifert, devoted wife, lover of life, and veterinarian, died in Memphis, Tennessee, on Sunday evening, September 19, 2004, at the age of 51, after many courageous years of battling Breast Cancer. Dr. Seifert, was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota. She earned a Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of Minnesota. After her marriage to Paul Seifert in 1981, she continued her interest in horticulture and earned a Master's degree in Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia. Combining her love of the outdoors, plants and animals, Dr. Seifert, returned to education and earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA), in 1996. Dr. Seifert, and her husband moved to Memphis, earlier this year when her husband was named Vice President of Gift Planning at ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Dr. Seifert, is the daughter of Earl James St. Sauver (deceased), and Julie Ann Seibert St. Sauver (deceased) of St. Paul, Minnesota. Dr. Seifert, is survived by her husband of 23 years, Paul; a sister, Barbara St. Sauver Coley of Kula, Hawaii, and a brother, Joseph St. Sauver of Eugene, Oregon; 14 nieces and nephews; and four great-nieces and nephews. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. There will be a Memorial service at Church of the Holy Communion (Episcopal) in Memphis, on Saturday, September 25, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are being made by Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
